If you want more defense, soldier and arcane have it. If you like pets go shaman/occult, if you like offense go nightblade/demo. Personally I'd say try rerolling but add one of the four classes you didn't this time. No one likes buying them, but they're almost necessary unless you have good gear for your level.

Also the main stat points in any class are a huge deal. It's tempting to stack as much cunning as possible, and you can, it's just easy to become a glass cannon (which it doesn't sound like you are, just saying). Resists from components help a lot too, as does physique from points/gear. Getting life leech on your items, and the leech ability (from the fang component) would help as well. The other life leach occultist has (the pentagram on the ground) isn't that great.

Set hound to aggressive, crow to defensive and buy the crow heal, and the green rain drop icon AE heal in occult. Nah occultist pets are nice, just demo and occultist don't really go together that well. Apparently occultist pets just suck noodles? Now I'm just left with the 30 points of specialization in occultist that I'm not using -_. Is there something I'm missing here, or do some class combinations just not work?Įdit: I ditched all the 30something points I had in pet skills and dumped it all in to demo with lots of molotov/firestrike/passives and my damage is way up. I tried sinking a bunch of points in to blast shield and that helped some against gun dudes, but my dps is otherwise already such crap (we're talking like 2-5 minute battles with named) that I can't really afford the points there, much less in that heal/regen skill in occult.

The "taunt" on the hellhound ability seems to be entirely a lie and I've never seen a named swing at him ever. Pretty much every elite/named/boss is multiple deaths in a war of attrition to finally grind them down because I have absolutely no way to survive their damage output. Occult/demo is just such complete anti-synergy that even after going back to normal difficulty I'm having a hard time progressing anymore past Homestead. I think I may actually have to start over entirely.
